Why get a medical marijuana card? Light it up. Watch the herb burn. Inhale. Release. Enchanting patterns of the smoke hold my attention as I feel my anxiety ease. I’ve been self-medicating Marijuana for a little over two years; I didn’t care that it was illegal at the time that I started using cannabis, all I cared about was how I felt afterward. I felt free from my ailment.
“To ask people to suffer through life and all that it throws at you is too much. To say for the rest of your life you can’t use anything is a bleak outlook on life. There has to be an in-between. You can’t say everything is evil. There’s appropriate situations to use medical cannabis whether you have an addiction problem or not.” – Dr. Sherry Yafai, High Sobriety’s Director of Research & Development.
The Lancet recently published a four year study on the efficacy of cannabis for pain among opioid users. This is the title that the media chose to report the studies findings: “ Australian Study Finds No Strong Evidence That Cannabis Use Reduces Pain or Opioid Use in People Living With Chronic Non-Cancer Pain.” While we applaud the authors and their work, the sensationalist title the media picked up is beyond misleading.

The U.S. cannabis industry is still in its infancy, even though states began engaging with legalization in one form or another in the late 1990s. Today, many opportunities exist for individuals and businesses that want to engage in the industry. Some want to directly own licensed businesses, while others prefer to keep the industry at an arm’s length and merely profit from it.
The Nevada Dispensary Association (“NDA”), a non-profit trade association, was formed in 2014 with a mission to develop and promote best practices in Nevada’s medical marijuana industry. Medical marijuana use was legalized in Nevada in 2000, but no mechanism for legal sales of marijuana existed at that time. Then, in 2013, Senator Tick Segerblom sponsored a bill that was later passed by the Nevada legislature.
Marijuana edibles are a popular way to experience the effects of THC. Popular forms include weed brownies, gummies, and cereal bars. Edibles give you the same psychoactive effects as smoking cannabis would, but the effects generally last much longer. The effects of edibles can last from 4 to 12 hours, usually peaking at around 2-3 hours. While 80-90% of THC will be eliminated from your body within 5 days, you may still fail to pass a blood test for around a month.

If the future of concentrates isn’t bright, it’s at the very least lit. Marijuana Business Daily reported last month that, according to data collected by BDS Analytics, Colorado’s concentrate sales climbed to a dizzying 125% in the first quarter of 2016. While some insiders point to an inertia that they believe will only continue to surge, eventually overtaking the still-more-popular marijuana flower, others aren’t so content to rest on their laurels.
The World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee of Drug Dependence (ECDD) held their 40th meeting in Geneva from the 4th-7th of June 2018.
